If God meant for you to share your dreams with others, He would have told them too! Many times we struggle for support and validation from others instead of moving towards making our dreams a reality. The moment we share our dreams with everyone - especially with those within arm’s reach - their opinions create doubt and fear begins to settle in. Blink! We just lost precious times having to defend our dreams instead of working towards achieving it.
I am not saying that we should never share our dreams with others. I believe that we must be conscious of when we choose to share it. We need to allow time to soak in our dreams and absorbed all of its nutrients and benefits before it has been touched and processed by other people’s thoughts and opinions.
We want to believe that those in our circle always maintain our best interest at heart, and most typically do. However, it is natural for them to interject their owns values and expectations for your life. Some may feel threatened by the things you want to accomplish. They may interpret that you “chasing your dreams” as you abandoning your relationship with them or perhaps leaving them behind. And, of course, there are some who will always be happy to support you in all of your endeavors. Our dreams are very personal. It will always be most important to ourselves because it relates to our individual purpose in the universe.
The seasons in our lives are not the same. Unfortunately, there are winning and losing seasons. It could be raining in one person’s life and a complete drought in the other. Not everyone is at a place in time where they can be happy for someone else’s dream and accomplishments, especially when they are dealing with their own shortcomings. Therefore, if we are relying on them to give their stamp of approval in order to move forward, it could very well prevent us from pursuing our dreams. We cannot afford to wait for others to endorse us, we must act now! We have to protect our dreams with the same amount of care and protection we give to our physical bodies. In a perfect world everyone wins and accomplishes their dreams together. But this isn’t a perfect world nor is our dreams tied to another human being. Therefore, we cannot afford to wait for someone else to "catch up" to us because their road to travel is different from ours. If we lose sight of our focus now, we could delay our success tomorrow.
There are some roads we must be brave enough to explore alone. And, if you’re a believer in a higher power then you know that you’re never truly alone. Your life has a purpose and it is not contingent on anyone else. Everyone doesn’t need to be a part of your vision. We must be mindful of who we are sharing our dreams and our strategies with. Not everyone standing next to you is with you! Your dreams are to give you hope and purpose for continuing on your journey. Also, your dreams are associated with your individual state of happiness. We must be unapologetic in chasing our dreams and not wait for validation - it may never come! Trust the inner voice, His voice, and walk by faith and not by sight. So, Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it, and Obtain it!
